Default P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Error

My 900 SE (98) turbo has been giving me the P0340 check engine code for the past two months.

The error comes up with p0340: camshaft position sensor A Bank 1 circuit malfunction.

I changed the position sensor cord that led from the throttle area to the camshaft under the engine, but this dealer code still comes up.

Any suggestions?

From what I know the 900 uses the coil pack to sense cam position. Make sure that you have the correct spark plugs and they are gapped correctly. My Bro in laws car had this same code after he replaced the plugs with a set of champion plugs. Changed those to NGK with the correct gap, clearted the codes and it hasn't come back yet.
Oh... his is a 97 900SE so yours may be different? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Absolutely correct ye be , re the plugs.
Imperative to use the factory specified ones.
Check your manual or the Haynes.
After the info is verified, write it down.
R = resistor....this is vital

As of today the CEL she is still off. Plugs did the trick. The 900SE seems to be one of those cars that has little or no information available to the average Joe to fix it himself without buying the factory manual. That's why I drive Alfas!
You all thought that that Saab guys were whack jobs......

The Check Engine Light should be on if the camshaft position sensor is faulty. The car may or may not hesitate, stall, or accelerate poorly.
