antenna will not raise

Just installed a aftermarket Kenwood receiver. Everything works fine except the antenna will not raise. I have the antenna power wire hooked up to the adapter. Does anyone know the approx voltage required to activate the antenna? Would an external relay work? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
