Default Faded Paint on Saab 900

Hey everyone,

I own a 1997 saab 900 in red. Since i got it about 2 years ago the paint has been faded and getting gradually worse and worse. I got it cut and polished last week and the guy who did it said that because the gloss coat (Or something like that) was completely gone, the shine it has will only last a maximum of about a month.

I rang up a guy and got a quote to respray the car for about $2,500. But i only paid $4500 for the car so dont think that would be worth it...

I was wondering if anyone knows what the best way to fix this if i dont want to polish my car every single month!

I would be willing to spend about $600 on getting it fixed if that would help.

Any information anyone knows wold be great.

Getting a coat of clear sprayed at Maaco shouldn't cost more than $500

i can tell you from first hand experience it takes 75 cans to do 2 coats if you bombing it by hand with spray paint. 2gal if you have your own spray gun. and roto is right it should be under 500 from macco but they suck and you would be better off spray painting it yourself because they only put 2 coats of color and 1 clear. if you get the clear your lucky but it usually means they skimped on primer
macco paint peels of within 3 years due to their painting procedure
if you spray yourself or have someone else do it be sure it gets preped the right way or you will have rust in no time.2 coat primer 3 base 3 clear with a wetsand
