Exclamation Accidental Reversal of jumper cables! Help!

I own a 2003 Saab 9-3 Linear and my battery died. I had my friend jump start it but I was stupid and not paying attention... placed the cables on backwards on my car battery terminals for about 10 seconds or so maybe 20..

it sparked a little bit so I took em off and placed them on right, then
charged it a bit and it is sputtering BADLY now. I took it down to road for about 5 minutes or so and my car has NO power now. it wont go above 2-=25 mph and even sitting in the drive way with my foot to the floor the car wont go above 4k rpms.

any ideas?
