Default convertible roof not working

Help!!!!! I've just had a quote for almost £3,000 potentially to fix the power hood of my saab 900 SE 2.3i convertible from my local saab garage!!!! Quote:found tonneau drive twisted-possible only link arm needed + tonneau u/j required £800 to included programming. Possible tonneau drive motor £990 + VAT needed if link arm does not work. Tonneau flap broken off £187. Possible 5th bow latching motor £445 which is the possible cause of original fault.
Obviously I'm not keen to spend almost the value of the car having the roof fixed so I desperately need help from you guys!!!!!
What are my options/alternatives? What does programming mean and does this mean I can only go to a saab garage?
My partner tried to straighten the twisted link arm but now the roof will do nothing. SID keeps saying check soft top. He checked the tonneau motor and says it is working.
What should we do next?????? HELP!!!!!!!!
