saab 900 s roof

Hiya my name is tony i live in south yorkshire uk
i have just bought saab convertable on a p plate
i noticed when the roof is put back up the catches on the bottom of the roof do not lock in place. When lowering roof, roof gose down fine while holding button but when button is released roof dose not stay in place
has any one any ideas why it dose not lock
