Default 900s 2.5 v6 gearbox/clutch issue

Hi, I am looking at buying a 1995 900s v6 asis. There is no drive to the wheels. The old owner says he had it checked at a garage, they said the release bearing(throw out bearing) had failed. Does anyone know how hard it is to remove the gearbox or at least move it away far enough to get the clutch out?? How big a mission is it? Some garages said to take the engine out?? I have done quite a bit of mecanical work on Jappa cars. I have owned previous a 900s 2.3 4cyl and a 1986 900 Turbo 8 valve. These cars never needed major work.
