AC / Climate Control characteristics

I have a 1997 Saab 900 SE Turbo and occasionally the AC unit seems to crap out when I am idling. I haven't read anything about problems with the AC in this car, but maybe someone else has heard of this. Is this fixable (and cost effective)?
