Default 2003 9-3 - Window Switch - need some help

Some water came in my drivers side window right into my window control panel while waiting at a bank drive thru in the rain. I wiped it off, things worked fine....til the next day.

Then my entire door controls were dead. The lock went out, the window controls, the trunk button and the mirror controls. All in my drivers door. The only thing that worked on that door was the light for the trunk was still lit up.

Anyway - after talking to some people I determined that the window switch was probably dead and that it was in control of all of those things within my door.

So I ordered one and picked it up. When I went it up they told me NOT to put it in and to make an appointment for them to do it. Said "it probably needs to be programmed to your car"...so I bought the part and I have to call Monday to make an appointment.

Is this true? The reason I'm questioning this is because many times it seems they've tried to dig deep in my pockets. They are the only dealer in the area so they seem to take advantage of that. This is the same place that told me I needed to buy a whole new key when the battery in my key died. I didnt know anything about the key at that time so I didnt know how to get to the battery...I just ***umed it HAD to have one....and it does. They were trying to burn me for 90 bucks.

They also told me that I needed an entire power stearing pump because it was "leaking oil"...I took it to my friends dad at that point who replaced the gasket for 4 bucks and it was fine....396 dollars less.

So anyway - its my first instinct to ***ume that this might be BS but who knows. I was going to attempt to put this in myself because it seems like it just plugs in, but if its not going to work then I'm not going to bother.

Anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance!
