Default Immobilizer Failure, but car starts fine...

I am looking at a 2003 9-3 Linear with 93K for my girlfriend and it has a strange issue. When you put the key in and turn it to accesories, the SID says "Immobilizer Failure". Turn it to start and car starts right up and message goes away. Now this is really weird. Plug in a seat belt and message comes back, but car continues to run fine. Any ideas?

Disclaimer: I'm an experienced weekend wrencher with a specialty in VW diesels (there are 7 of them in the family), but am VERY new to SAABs.

Thanks in Advance.
