9-3 vs 900 and 3 vs. 5 door

I am debating between a 1999 base 9-3 (in 3 or 5 door) and a 1997 900 SE. All with the five speed.

My main priorities are performance and reliability. So do any of these cars have advantages over the others? I am new to the Saab world so any advice is helpful and appreciated.

Also there is this 1999 9-3 SE but it is an autotragic and that makes me not want it.
