general key question - Saab Forums

i just inherited a 1999 saab 93 convertible. the tow truck driver just dropped it off tonight. big problem is, ***ody seems to know what happened to the keys. is the 99 equipped with an immobilizer key that needs to be programmed at the dealer? i come from a volkswagen background, and all vw's pre-2000 are non immobilizer, saab however is a new ball game for me. please help! this may prove very tricky as the car has a blown headgasket and i cant reasonably tow it all over the planet.

Sorry to say but yes it has a immobilizer. Saab calls it "twice". If you don't have the key/chip (you can have a key with chip in it and a seperate remote or an "all-in-one key) you will have to replace the twice unit and program the key/chip. Good Luck.
