Default Purchase of 03 Linear vs 04 Linear

Hi everyone,

I am looking to get an 03/04 9-3. I found an automatic silver 03 Linear with 60K miles for $8000. I also found an automatic black 04 Linear with 60K miles for $8700.

The 03 has:
Heated seats (driver side seat is broken)
16 inch wheels

The 04 has:
15 inch wheels

I am leaning towards the 2003. The guy who is selling the 04 says that 03 models have transmission problems after 100K miles. Does this claim have any basis?

Also the 2003 driver's seat has a hole in the leather. How hard is it to get repaired?

IMHO, go with '04. The '03 was the first year for a brand new model and as such had some issues.

Can you please elaborate on some of the more common problem spots with the 03?

Thanks
