If only this worked!

I have a 2006 9-5, 5-speed manual, that I bought new from the dealer in '06. Nothing has been replaced other than wear items (tires, belts, etc.), no changes to electronics or dash.

I have an indie mech. do my services, and he does not clear the messages. (He's a damned good mechanic and honest as you'll ever find so I tolerate his quirks.)

I tried both the "clear" and the "clear-release-clear-8sec" methods. Nothing. Tried them with ignition on but car not started. Tried it with car started and running. Tried it with "Time for Service" message on the SID and with the "Time for Service" message cleared off the SID. I tried it with several of the different info screens up on the SID. I tried it holding "Clear" for longer than 8sec.(Got up to about 95sec without result.) I cannot get rid of this _STINKING_ message!

Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance for your time.
