Default Smoking exhaust

Hi there, and thanks to all in advance for any help.
my car's a Saab 93, 2005 Arc.
I don't know if it's a"turbo" problem but on start-up (cold engine) and idle (hot or cold engine) smoke billows out of my exhaust but when i drive and accelerate hard'ish, the smoke disappears after about 10 seconds. i removed the intake pipe and the turbo blades felt solid, no play at all. i also had the boost pressure tested and the mechanic said it was great. i feel no loss in power, in fact the power is very good. the engine is burning oil (about a quart per 5k) and i put my finger in the exhaust pipe and the inside was coated in black liquid. please can anyone help? I'm out in the Middle East and it's really hit and miss with mechanics here.
If any one has any advice, i'm still a novice so an explanation in layman's terms would be appreciated.
thanks all,
J

Smile Same problem

I've got a Saab 9.3 SE Turbo 2002 and it's a great runner - only problem I've got is what you have experienced. I've got blue/white smoke from exhaust, but runs fine. Had a head gasket put on a few months back, but it's not this. Engine's smooth running, speed fine, regularly serviced, but cannot find out what this is.

I was told that it could be a turbo problem (although not convinced as it's running fine and accelorator is fine).

What did you end up doing to solve your problem?

Any advice gratefully received.

Cheers
Ace

Default

Could be blowby coming from the PCV system into the intake and being burned... also the turbo could be leaking into the exhaust directly.
