Default 1999 9-5 trans problem p1624

I have recently put a used trans in my 9-5 and trouble since. It will not go in to reverse unless you go to drive first and going down the road it can t decide which gear to go in and constantly goes into limp home mode and codes are p1624 and p0730 any ideas?

I read somewhere that the p1624 is automatic trans has stored a emissions fault. I have tried disconnecting battery and even tried yesterday to swap out the valve body still limp home and p1624 and p0730. Even still reverse problem and this is the 2nd used trans with the same codes. The only prob with the original is no 4th so I checked all connections and wires no prob found.

sounds like you need a new ecu, if you just replaced the tranny then it should be somewhat good it sounds as if you cars computer is on the fritz

you can always upgrade to a 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION

a refund is a good thing, however you're still in the same boat. I wouldn't do a 5-speed swap for two reasons: 1). It's more involved than it looks, 2). It hurts whatever resale value you may have left. Definitly sounds like an electronics issue though. I need to check if there's a separate control module for the transmission and if not than a new ECU would be in order...

The TCM I don't believe has to be programmed. The ECU on the other hand does have an immobilized code in it that needs to match the original one. Look for WIS on ebay for your car. You should be able to pick it up quickly since it's kind of similar to ALLDATA and other similar programs...just saab specific.

Did you resolve your transmission problem?

I had a "shadetree" put in a engine main seal and afterwards have same transmission issue as you describe. Only into R out of D and most of time high gear only. P0730 gear ratio code.

Any Updates on this? I have the same issue, when I clear the codes with my code reader the car drives fine in all gears for a few minutes then it's back to limp mode. Also no reverse from p, got to go to D first then R.
