Default 2000 Saab 9-5 worth fixing?

Today I found a 2000 Saab 9-5 for sale cheap. It is the turbo V-6 model. It has 155,000 miles on it, & has a blown head gasket. It smokes sweet smelling smoke out of the exhaust, & the engine oil is white, so I know it is serious. They are asking $1000 for it. It looks pretty good otherwise.

My question is if it is that bad, is the engine fixable, or should I just replace it? When the head gaskets blow, do they tend to really mess things up, or can I resurface the heads & put new gaskets in & be OK?
