Default Lost/Broken Remote

I have a 1998 Saab 900SE Convertible which I bought as a second owner. It is parked with the top down, and the alarm activated. I have my key but the dog ate my remote (this is not a homework excuse!). Saab repair people have COME HERE, hooked up the Tech 2 computer, and it reads everything EXCEPT the anti-theft option. (Computer says: cannot establish connection) I am told the whole security computer has to be replaced for a grand$$. I have the key, I own the car, why is it there is no way to get the remote code? The Saab dealership here in Seattle has abondoned their service dept.! Does anyone have any suggestions? There must be some record SOMEWHERE of the remote code, mustn't there? Thank you for your help, anyone and everyone.

For any local service Dept. you're going to need to call McCann motors in Fife. just north of Tacoma on I-5.

Thanks for the advice about Fife. The key DOES open the car. But the fuel-injection and alarm are on the same fuse. Fuel is shut off when alarm is activated. Getting in is not the problem. Hooking up the computer is not the problem. The computer cannot read the remote code while the alarm is activated and I cannot deactivate the alarm without the computer code. Very frustrating!
