Default Speedometer Not working

I have a 1997 9000 cs. The speedometer isn't working. I pulled the gear and sending solenoid from the rear of the transaxle. It looks fine, and when turned by hand, the speedometer works. I would like to know if the drive gear in the transaxle is replaceable, with-out pulling the transaxle?
Any ideas? Thanks
