Default intermittent starting problem

1997 Saab 900 SE turbo 2L
every once and a while my saab wont start. turning over nicely it doesnt fire at all.
99.9 percent this car starts and runs great. After running the battery down and jumping it
it still wont start. After expierencing this problem many times in the past year I found if I put a 1/4 cup of gas down the throttle body... the car starts instantly and runs great
for months. If it was a fuel delivery problem I believe the car would not run so well. But it always runs great. Anybody got any ideas. This car is in very good condition because I baby it and repair it at the least little problem.
