2000 9-3, intermittantly won't start, etc.

Hello all:

Recently bought a 2000 9-3. I've had two issues with it:

1) Intermittantly won't start. It will always start on a cold start, but after taking it on a few short trips, it won't start on the 3rd or 4th start. It won't turn over at all, but the dash lights, windows, cd player, etc. all work. This has happened know on three occasions all with the same scenario. I'll come back after about three hours or so and it will start up again.

2) On cold starts only, the engine will idle rough, feels like it is about to kill, but willkeep runningrough for about 10-15 seconds. After it stops idling rough I'll drive it and the only other thing I notice is there is a brief delay in accelerating, but after the engine warms up, it runs great.

Any idea's? Thanks for taking the time.

Chad

I have had the same issue with my 2000 9-3 conv. I had a diagnostic run on my car and they said it was the crank shaft position sensor. I had this replaced and it is still doing this. I have heard that the key can go bad and act up where you can't start the car at times. I know the batter, alternator and starter are all good.

If you find out something before me, please advise.

95% of the time it is the CPS....but yea....the security system can have it's flukes...but when it's related to the engine being warmed up it's usually the CPS.
