Default 2000 9-5 Car won't start

I have a 2000 9-5 wagon. I went to start the car and it won't. It turns over, but simply won't light off. It sounds as if it isn't getting gas. I opened the fuel cap, but do not hear the sound of the fuel pump. Anybody have any ideas before I take it to the dealer and get hosed? Thanks.

first of all check the fuel pump fuse. If it's ok get in the car and turn the key in the on position. You should hear humming from the back of the car. If you don't hear it take a small rubber mallet and hit the tank from below. If the car starts - you need a new pump.
