Hello, i recently got a 89 2 door Saab ( 4 Cylinder-Auto ) the cooling fans stopped working on my way to work so i pulled over to let it cool & put water in it, 9 hours later ( 11pm at night ) I headed off home, around half way home it started to die- Revs drop then back to normal-like surging or no spark or fuel, ( when it over heated the engine bay got alittle wet ) It also idles funny now revs drop then come back up to normal, i checked oil & no water in it so cannot be a blown head gasket, would some-one have a idea of what my trouble could be, Thanks Jamie-Australia.

 

Wow......not one reply, well i took the Saab out last week, was running fine then started to play-up, would not go....turned it off then fired it back up again & away it went for 100 km, I will replace the Fuel pump relay this week as i think its a electrical problem, any-way I plan to have it fixed, Down the track i plan to add a 5 speed gearbox ( Maybe a gearbox & engine swap ) what i would like to know now is what 5 speed saab box/engine i can use - that is a straight bolt in for my 89 2 door Saab...

No Worries, hopefully some-one will chine in & let me know what engine/gearbox i can use, all car repair shops are closed till mid January due to the xmas break down here in Australia, so as soon as i have it looked at will post to let you know what problem was........................
