code p1312
I have a 2003 9-5 linear, the check engine light has been coming on intermittently. The last time it was on I took it to a local mechanic and he hooked it up to his diagnostic computer and it gave him a code p1312. He's supposed to be getting back to me with what the problem is....Has anyone out there had this problem??? Is this something I can fix myself? I just had 900.00 dollars in work done on the car fixing oil leaks....AAArgh! Thanks!!!

it is the exhaust temperature sensor malfunction. you should be able to replace that just
unplugg the old one unscrew it from the exhaust do the opposite to replace |
Any idea where I can buy one? I suppose it would also be nice to have a service manual for the car... Know where to pick one of those up? Thanks

for the manual look for Saab WIS for your year on ebay. The parts - eeuroparts.com
|
local autoparts store or check out the scrapyard
|
What other names might an exhaust temperature sensor be called?
|
exhaust temp probe is the only other thing ive heard it called
|
I can't find that part anywhere online. Oxygen sensors fore and aft are the only sensors I can find in the exhaust system.

boostpowered, are you sure it's an EGT probe code? I have no means to check since I don't have a 9-5 WIS Installed, but IIRC most of them don't have EGT probes. The code could be coming back as something generic if you're referencing a regular OBD2 collection. Saab has used a few obscure codes for other things...
edit: crosschecking with other resources this could be a code for missfire in cylinders 1 & 2 which could be either a faulty ignition cassette or fauled plugs. |
I also had this code and found on another forum that it is either your spark plugs or direct ignition cassette (DIC). I changed my plugs first since it was cheaper but still go the code after resetting it. Then I bought a new DIC at the dealership for $258 plus tax came out to $277. Reset my code and has not come back yet.

I did just that and have not gotten the CEL again....I must have read that same thread on the other forum. Thanks everyone for all your help!!!
