New Tires...did not make this problem go away..I have the spec 205/55/r16 tires on this car ..I have some serious rubbing going on ...all tires look to have clearance the but the front right is clearing by less than an inch in park when the wheel is turned...need some reccomendations on how to address this...

thanks

has the car been lowered?

gatr2000 03-20-2009 10:42 PM

no... the sound ..if i may...reminds me of driving in a 4 x 4 with knobby tires...its loud ..ive had cars hooking left from being out of alignment that bever sounded this bad...there is clearance parked...though very little in front..this sound did not exist when i bought the car 2 yrs ago...

thx

You definitly have a suspension problem at that corner...could be a sagging spring, or a chacked one...that is if you didn't get the car with aftermarket (or worse yet - cut) springs.

gas leak in the mcpherson strut will cause this also

wheel bearing

Roto

the noise is coming from my left wheel bearing i take it this will require special tools

what kind of labor $$ is involved if you have a business you want to supporrt that sells the bearing give me their website

thx

should just be taking off the axle nut (replace with a new one) remove caliper, remove disk from hub, remove hub(shuld be 4 12or10mm bolts holding hub to knuckle

ive never had to use anything beside sockets, allens, prybar, opened end wrenches, jack and stands

the bad hub/bearing wont cause clearance issues it will make the car shake at speeds above 55mph and make a clicking noise when turning or put it in reverse hit let it roll back and press the brake it will usually make a clunk noise like you backed into a kid

wheel bearing

thanx for the response...got tires aligned they said it was definitely front wheel bearing causing the "rubbing sound" the shop said the dealer needed to replace...tool issue..your making it sound pretty simple

Roto 03-26-2009 02:13 PM

It is very simple. The rubbing noise...I think I know what kind of a noise you're talking about...it's like humming when you get up to speed. No need for a dealer to replace...
