2003 Fuel filter

Does anyone here know the location of the fuel fitler on the 03 9-3 linear? I have followed the lines all the way to the rail and have not found it leading me to beleive its got to be hidden around the tank somewhere( I only had a limited time to look).
I have found on one website where it says there is a panel that you have to remove, but it doesn't say where the panel is located. I'll have a chance to look at it again today but if anyone knows the secret hiding spot, please let me know.

Thanks

Nice...looks like you guys have the fuel filter as an integral part of the fuel pump... so they probably mean the access panel under the bakc seat. I wouldn't bother with it unless the pump dies...

yea but I went to the dealer last night and told them that my gas guage has been acting wierd lately and he said it might be the fuel pump..this is gonna suck if i have to replace that

Here's where I am now.

Put the car up on the lift yesterday. Looked up at the area around the tank. Went to pull the evap canister down to look above it but was unable to get it down. Removed the r/r inner fender trim hoping to be able to see something but was not. Removed 2 child seats and removed my back seat bottom and found no access panel. I'm was at the point that I almost dropped the tank. The only reason I do not think it is in the tank is, it is a big filter. I have seen the in tank filters but this does not look like one. It is a standard metal filter with threaded holes on both sides. Usuallyin tank filter are plastic with quick connects.

are you sure you're not looking at a previous generation fuel filter? You're describing what I have and I'm 95% certain that your car has an intank filter which is replacable with the fuel pump assembly.

What is your guys opinion
At 70k miles and 24.5 mpg average would you take the time to replace it? Keep in mind if I take the time to drop the tank I'll replace the pump too while I'm there.

you'd have no choice but to replace the pump:) I estimate the whole thing costing you $700 if you were to drop the tank or a little less if you were to get an access door cut under the rear seat to get to the tank. I don't quite think that it's worth it...I'd much ratherput that $700 aside ...

RE: 2003 Fuel filter

10 mpg isn't that bad...consider that I get 14mpg on my tune....and that's highway and 94 octane.
