2004 9-3 CD Player Won't Eject

Hi,

I just purchased a 2004 9-3 but unfortunately the CD player does not work. There is a CD inside but when I push the eject button the player makes the ejection noises for a few seconds but nothing happens. Is this fixable or do I need to be looking for replacement CD player? Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Hi Max,

Had the same issue. Strange no one gave you the fix, I found it on the web a year ago.

99.9% sure your little tiny gears that eject the disk are slipping inside a clear plastic shell. The shell cracks where it is held to the player's frame allowing the gears to ride up and slip, which produces the clicking noise.

I removed the CD player, which is not difficult, and found the broken plastic as described. Glued it back down to the screw, all good, but unfortunately, I removed the disc in the discovery process and I think the player is now out of sequence. It is alive but won't recognise the CD in our out. Won't accept it and won't eject it. Just says Disc not available.

So I fixed it, but broke it. If you leave everything the way it was and fix the cracked plastic I believe you will have better luck.

Please look up the removal of the CD player sequence before you attempt this, the ECU unit above the CD player must come out first.

Good luck.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. After I posted the message I found another thread that outlined the fix with photos. It was very helpful. The same thing that happened to you also happened to me. I was able to fix the broken piece but now the CD player doesn't recognize the CD. I haven't been able to find a fix for the new problem. Please let me know if you find a solution. Thanks, Max
