adapting a non Saab radio

I have a 1999 93 HOT. I bought the car with a blown engine. I have replaced the engine, the radiator, the AC compressor, the SID and now the radio has gone. I bought a nice Sony with a ipod plug for my ipod. To avoid chasing down all of the wires I would like to know if there is a wiring diagram for the stock radio that would tell me what the existing harness wires do. Better yet, is there adapter harnesses that I could use to plug into the existing harnesses? The original radio was a stock AM/FM with a CD player.

RE: adapting a non Saab radio

There is a Ebay Dealer that sells aftermarket kits to change from standard Stereo's. The name of the dealer is Autoware 302. I just purchased one for a 99,9 3 I purchased for my son. The kit is $12.99 and 9.99 for shipping. I used the same dealer for a Dodge neon Stereo changeout and it is a snap to put in maybe 30 minutes if you are meticulus. I will let you know how mine turns out. Ratbobo

After market changeout

I changed out the standard stereo with the E-bay adapter kit available from Autoware302. I ended up grinding down the plastic rim for the "box" supplied with the kit in order for it to fit. I'm not that thrilled with the cheap look it cast but it is what it is. I searched for hours for a better kit online but my son had drove me crazy to get the unit in the car, so I gave in and installed it anyway. My son is very pleased with the look, but he was happy just to have a tuner to play his Ipod and have he advantage of playing thouands of tunes. The kit needs to be revamped by the manufacturer, people would pay a little extra for something of quality that would accent the inside of the car instead of just a plain black plastic mold and without having to pay the European jacked up prices.
