Cold Air intake question

Hi,

I have a '00 93 Aero 2.0T (205bhp). I'm thinking of getting a cold air intake for it but I have read alot of reviews saying that it causes turbo flutter, which in turn can put alot of pressure on the turbo unless you get an uprated bov. I am a bit hesitant in getting an uprated bov as I don't want too loud a pissst sound.

Also, if I get a universal cold air intake, like a pipercross universal one from halfords, would it cause my check engine light to come on, as I have read that happens also. Only reason I am looking at the universal intakes is they are 44 euro vs 130 euro from elkparts.com

Appreciate any help.

I'm not too familiar with over-the-pond cars. Is yours a T7 or a T5? If it's a T7 than you can't have a BOV since it uses a MAF. You could use a universal CAI as long as you do not introduce any leaks after the MAF.

Hi Roto,

Thanks for replying. Mine is the same as the UK model and it's a T7.

Does anyone know where I can find instructions on how to fit a CAI to a Saab 93 Aero T7 Model?

Hi Guys,

I have installed the CAI but there is only half an inch of clearing between the stock air hose and the drive belt. I have tried looking for an elbow or hose kit but I cannot find one. Can anyone help?

Hi, I just used a 25mm wide piece of silicone pipe I had lying around and sliced the end to fit into the old airbox securing points, placed the CAI on top and it cleared the belt nicely. Stayed put until I wrapped the car around a farmers fence post!
