Extended Warranty

Alright, I know we just bought our Saab, but it hit 49,000mi last night, and I'm wondering what everyone here thinks of getting an extended warranty... Is it worth it or not?

Thus far the car hasn't been glitchy (other than this morning's Immobilizer Failure, Call Saab Dealership; which it's going in for this afternoon) thus far so I'm just trying to see what everyone else thinks...

I'm a pretty good do-it-yourselfer so I'm definately not afraid to tear into my car if need be.

RE: Extended Warranty

So far I've been well off without a warranty, but than again, I'm a little more than an average DIY-er. Plus I've had luck finding good deals on parts, but my car is a 99 an a lot of parts from 1994 900 to 2002 9-3 are interchangable. I'm not sure about parts costs for your car, but I have found saabs easy to work on. Pick up a copy of the WIS for your car on ebay and look over it. If you're comfortable with the procedures, than you don't need an extended warranty. One thing with a warranty is that the parts are replaced for stock parts and I never do that. "If it's broke it's upgrade time" is my motto.

RE: Extended Warranty

I hear ya on that... Plus with how much the car's going to be driven, it's going to go from 50k to 100k in no time... So buying a warranty don't seem like a good value to me...

On my other cars, none have seen mechanics in my ownership other than alignments and tires... So I guess I'd be more than an average do-it-yourselfer myself...
