Fan failure
 

I own 93, TiD '04. I discovered that fan/A/C is not working, it's like everything is off. Does anyone know what's wrong or how to fix it?

have you looked at the fuses and relays related to the system?

Yeap, I checked. Fuses & relays are ok, I supose it's something with the fan motor. Where is it located, can I clean it somehow, or is it frozen maybe (temperature is below 0C for days and my car is outside). I hear strange noise inside the fan sistem few times, like there was some pieces of leaves or dust inside.

if you take the cowl off (large plastic cover under the windshield wipers) than take out the piece under that and take the cabin air filter out you will see the blower...I'd see if anything is jammed in there and if you can move it by hand.

I checked that also, everything is ok inside, I turned both fans few times manually, but same thing, it's probably fan motor inside the cabin, but some guys said me that it's quite tricky to reach that, probably it's dirty or maybe it's even dead. I put my car inside the garage (it's around 10 degrees C) so maybe it will start to work somehow;)

try to hit the motor from the top (from under the cowl) with the handle of a hammer. Don't overdo it, but it may start. Bad news is that if it starts you will definitly have to replace the motor.

Actually, it works now. I sprayed some anti-freeze spray and some WD40 inside the fan under cabin filter and put some hot & wet towels inside. After few hours inside the garage (it was warm inside around 10C) I started the car, everything worked fine- nice hot air inside without any strange noise. Probably, I need to pull out the fan and clean it somehow,because it will stop again for shure. Thnx anyway for your help Roto:D
