HELP WITH TIRES

HELP WITH TIRES.
I have a 2001 Saab Viggen, and a good set of tires for this car can make a world of difference. I live in St. Louis, Missouri where the driving conditions can change dramatically from hour to hour. Bad weather presents more often than not as rain, but snow can be a problem because the city doesn’t take care of the roads as well as in other places. Also, the car is driven hard, particularly in the corners and at 60 miles per hour (or there abouts: like a Viggen should be driven!). I have tried Nokians on my first Saab, a 1996 Talladega 900 SE. These tires were good in the snow and rain; but squealed, slipped, and collapsed in the corners. The original tires for the Viggen were Pirelli P6000, if I remember correctly. These tires were pretty worn after 15,000 miles and exchanged. The P6000 became loud as they aged, but handled well in curves even when worn. Not very good in acclimate conditions. Now the car has Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. To their credit the Neros are quieter than the P6000 but are wearing badly on the outer edges after 12,000 miles. It is frustrating how bad the tire spin can be at times in first and second gear (whether I’m getting on it or not) and in cornering. Furthermore, the Neros inspire little confidence in the rain and snow. Does anyone have any suggestions? As much as $150 per tire would be reasonable.

Matt
