Inner headlight question
I swear I have read the manual. However, i can't figure out the headlight set up on my wifes 9-3.
Problem:car gets Low beam failure error message.
Discussion: Each assembly has 3 lights in it starting from the outside they seem to be
1. turn signals
2. a self leveling very expensive headlight bulb (only passenger side works)
3. a pretty affordable easy to replace bulb (this is the bulb i can not figure out)
What is that inner bulb? i can not get either side to light and the bulbs are not blown. they are refered to as headlights but so are the center bulbs. I do not know when they are supposed to light or how to turn them on to troubleshoot them. (checking fuses and relays)
she is running on only one xenon bulb now and i want them all to work i think.
its a confusing setup to come into the middle of. i have never seen all the lights work and she does not know what they are or when they are supposed to work either.
Thank you for your help
John

RE: Inner headlight question
on this car, the DRL's are the bi-xenon lamps. (the center light) I called the dealer today and the service guy said that on that model the inner light position was a failsafe that would light in the event of a bi-xenon total failure. this explains why i have not seem these bulbs light or can not get them to light. I am thinking about trying to disable the other working bulb just to verify this claim from the dealer.
If anybody can support this data i would appreciate the feedback. as it is, that bi-xenon bulb is about $190.
