Onstar Malfunction and other issues
 

Hello All,
New to this forum but some good info here.


I have a 2004 9-3 Arc Convertible that I purchased in 2006 with 18K miles. To date it has been a fun car to drive and has been my work commuter. Today it has 146k and still running strong.


Question(s) I have (and I did try searching this forum for the answer) is since I purchased this vehicle I have had a few issues both past and present.


1. ever since I purchased the vehicle I would occasionally get an OnStar Malfunction error on the HUD despite I don't have OnStar. I have taken my vehicle back to the dealer and they say they cleared that feature (whatever that means) but several months later it would come back and stay for awhile then clear. Any thoughts on this?


2. I also have an airbag malfunction (passenger) that started intermittently when someone wasn't in the passenger seat but lately it is on all the time. I am guessing there is a switch in the seat that went bad but I am not sure. I had a similar issue on my suburban but it turned out to be the sensor in the front bumper which drove the repair cost to triple from a simple seat switch like I had originally thought.


3. This is more of a self inflicted issue but I thought I ask anyway. Since I have the factory HID lights, I did not like my dull yellow fogs because it looked wrong from a lighting match perspective. So I added some LED bulbs for fog lights several years ago but have the strangest issue with flickering when you turn the car off or you are driving with the fogs off. I am sure someone has converted these with no issues but just wondering how. I was tempted to add some resistors to the LED wire to see if that calms them down like you do with LED turn signals but I am not sure if that would work.


I would like to give this car to my daughter but would also like to clear the issues up prior. Thanks in advance for any comments and or reply's.
