Such a quirky car! Some tips on the 2003 9-3.
 

At times, I feel like this car fits me so well: it's quirky and requires me to think outside of my norms to make some things "remember" what they are doing. Sometimes, the sunroof just keeps denying me the pleasure of closing and decides to open back up instead. First, my initial fix to this problem was to turn off the car and open the door for about 10 seconds, close and then restart the car and it actually worked! Now, if it gets cranky, I politely assist it into position like I'm tucking it into bed. Think a little warm milk might help when/if this fails?

The lights...oh! The lights! They burn out here and there fairly often, BUT...the last time I checked, they weren't even burned out at all. The fix to this was checking the wiring and realizing that they get wet easily, which, of course, leads to massive corrosion. One day I had them both "burn out" and spent an hour cleaning off the corrosion and then wrapping them fully with electrical tape. So far, so good, except...except three days later, in a sense of finality, she burned out one of them for good. Again: cranky little car.

Some days, you crank her up and she decides that the radio is annoying and makes me hear the fuzz. I simply tell her what's what, and turn off the radio for a bit. Upon turning it on, she seems satisfied that I at least took notice and allows me to listen to my music.

Next up, if she thinks I'm driving too fast into a specific curve, she brings me to a vibrating slow-down. There is no REAL fix, though, and while it's funny to think about now, it's had me cussing nearly every day that I am late for work. I find it funny that the only way to avoid this is to turn off her ESP, reminding her that she doesn't HAVE to attempt to know what's best for me.

Fortunately, through her fussy times, I have found a knowledgeable person to fix her at times. He's been good to find that while someone's quoted me $2k for a new turbo, fixed her up for $75. A sudden and extreme loss of power along with a spooky whistling noise turned out to be nothing more that a missing bolt and a busted hose. So, the best bet for you guys out there is to just find a knowledgeable person. The "family" mechanic isn't always the best choice for these kinds of quirky cars.
