ya same here. taking belt off did nothing. this may be unrelated but i also have codes p0442, p1135, p0125

took oil pan off and found metal shavings and a loos #1 piston. engine is now junk!! along with rest of the pos saab

sorry to hear that, but that was my third suggestion, lets face it , it wasn't a tapping noise, it did sound nasty.
