2000 9-5 Speedo/odo - heater probs
Need help with potential purchase of 2000 9-5.
Owner indicates, speedometer and odometer haven't worked since 71K miles.'His "honest" "reasonable" estimate, indicates approx 100-110K miles. Bad news, estimate to fix this problem - $2,500 - Is this possible?? Seems terribly high! ALso, he indicates, driver side heat does not work. Hey, I live in MN, "A Necessity!) Estimate for this - $1500 - Is this possible?? Car is great. But I am leary, not knowing actual mileage and these extreme estimates to fix! The guy's got no reason to "inflate" the cost of repairs - he's trying to sell the thing. Anybody got any experience with these two issues? Or have had to pay for similar repairs? I love the car - V-6 turbo, great shape, its priced at $4,200, but I am compelled to leave much lower offer with the problems and mileage uncertainty. Thank you much! |
RE: 2000 9-5 Speedo/odo - heater probs
if you decide to do DIY the repairs than the seat heater wouldn't possibly more than a coupe of hundred. Those are deler estimates, quite accurate too. I wouldn't buy this car if I were you. You can find GOOD 9-5's with known milage and no problems for 5K anywhere...and the V6 isn't that good of an engine...the 2.3L turbo that comes in 9-5s is much better.
