9-5 flywheel flexplate

I just had head replaced at a shop and was told there were teeth missing on the flywheel. I'm seriously thinking about doing the job myself and was hoping someone had some advice. do you have to drop the trans or can it be slid back to replace the flywheel? also is there a post on the process? any help is app. thanks

Is the car auto or manual? I doubt that there's enough space for you not to drop the transmission and work around it. If it's a manual - possibly, if auto - really don't think so. Have not tried this particular job, since I usually removed the transmission if any problems needed to be fixed in there.

yes its a manual and thanks for your interest. the only reason I ask is the mech. that was working on it mentioned not having to drop the trans completely to do the repair. I know you only cut out a couple steps but they are the hard ones. I guess if it was that easy everyone would do it that way and so far no one has said it was an option. thanks for your time.

Trust me, removing the transmission in this case is the only right call. You will not be able to properly torque the bolts on the flywheel with the transmission sitting in the way even if you manage to get in there and remove the clutch assembly.
