HELP!! with my.. boost solenoid???

at work today my boss and i were nstalling my new boost gauge and i noticed alot of my vacuum hoses were old and crumbly so we started changing them out with silicon hoses.

well, one end of an older hose got stuck on a nipple, and after pulling on the hose to get it off... the nipple broke off also. :/ i took it to the local performance shop and the guy said that he thinks the part the nipple broke off of was called the boost solenoid ill post a pic of it so someone can see what is going on and hopefully help out with the situation. if it is a boost solenoid how much do those go for and how hard/easy it the change out?

Well I can't really tell anything from this picture, but if it's a plastic valve looking thing that has hoses going back to the turbo's cold side and the wastegate than yes, that's a boost control solenoid. Lucky for you it's not horribly expensive. $30 at a junkyard and something around $80 new (i haven't checked the prices, going by memory here, so this could be totally outdated and inacurate)

sorry about the picture, i posted the wrong one. its actually located right next to the fuse box, it even has its own plastic cover. it has three nipples, two on the left and one on the right. my buddy thinks its a vacuum regulator and it causes no harm to bypass it. as of right now the car is running perfectly fine. i attached the BOV to another vacuum line with a T. spool up is fine, my gauge is even saying that im running a higher boost. so would not having connected to the regulator cause any damage or am i ok without it?

where do the hoses off of it lead? Sorry, I can't picture a 9-5 bay since I rarely look in one.

Yep, that i not the boost control valve... no idea what it actually is though.

so you think as long as the car is running fine and everything, and even the mechanic said its ok to by-pass it, ill be fine without it?
