What to look for in a used Saab 9-5 Wagon?
Hi everyone!
New to the forum and new to Saabs. I am considering the purchase of a 2005 Saab 9-5 Linear (67K miles) wagon. I love the car but am concerned that I have no idea what to be looking for. I am very unfamiliar with Saabs. Is there anything specific to this model I should have my eye out for? How is the reliability of the major mechanical stuff (trans, engine, cooling)? CR says about average, but I prefer real world guidance. Being a low volume Euro, are parts expensive and hard to come by in the North America? (expensive as compared to say a Toyota or VW) The price makes the car look like quite the bargain. Lots of car for $9K with relatively low mileage @ 67K! I really want to buy this car but dont want to be blinded by the perceived value and end up with an expensive maintenance trap. Is a Saab the right car for someone looking for a low maintenance, safe, high utility, and low cost wagon? On the surface it appears that it is, but I am worried about reliability. Thanks for any guidance! |
