idle problems and pulling away
 
hi there hope you can give us some advice i have a auto 9000 cse on a n reg 2.0l when idle the revs go up on there own then drop to normal idle it does this every now and again any ideas what can cause this many thanks the second thing is when putting foot down sometimes it feels car is not going as it should i dont think gearbox is slipping because gears change up and down smooth its fine on motorways etc.. if anybody has any good advise would be grateful its a lovely car to drive its my first saab are auto boxes ok on the saabs thanks :):)

it sounds to me like you have a vaccume leak somewhere. autos are always more expensive to repair when broken and they are weaker in some aspects. if you are doing street racing(illegal) go with a manual. if you are going to be doing alot of moving the steering wheel(on the track or dirt roads) i would recommend having an automatic, it gets a bit difficult to shift, steer, and not hit things like trees or walls.
so manuals are tougher but you have to manually shift, and autos are weaker(not by much) but allow spirited driving without overthinking. if you race and decide to go with an auto you can do like me and buy spare autos with low miles. after you swap a few it gets pretty easy to do. and if you feel brave and know anything about how an auto works you can rebuild them fairly easily.
