900i 1993 power antenna
Just removed the power antenna from the car. It was jammed 1 section up continuously and clicked loudly when trying to raise and lower.
After removing the antenna from the mounting tube I straightened and freed up each section and sprayed with a silicon lubricant. Non of the teeth on the nylon drive line appeared to be stripped so i poked it back up the mounting tube and nylon drive line down into the drive gear and applied 12 v dc to the red and green wired terminal block. Nothing happened except loud buzzing from the relay. I removed the motor and found the rotor to be free to drive the main gear ok.Could'nt figure why voltage on the connector plug would not drive the motor. When i realised the motor would get its 12v neutral return through the car body. with 12 volt+ve on the red wire the antenna retracted. I couldn't get it to extend? Finally figured the green wire energised the relay which reversed current to the motor. So you need 12v dc on to both green and red with neutral return through the car body earth to extend the antenna. I will still need to purchase a telescopic antenna replacement as it occaisionally catches and sticks.
I hope this information saves someone a bit of time when repairing their unit.
