1988 900s euro market car
Hi, I recently bought a 88 900s from the original owner. He stated the car has been in the garage for about 6 months. It turns over but will not fire, I't a 16 valve 5 spd. We have traced the problem, we hope, to an ignition module. Problem is, it's a euro model and it has a 4 prong module instead of the usual 7. The car was purchased in Sweden while the guy was in the service. It has 98k on it. It's a great little car. Any ideas? Thank you.
You might try www.saabsite.com if you are looking for new parts, or some of the vendors on e-bay. Look for people who are near former military bases as they would be more likely to have imported (versus) export vehicles with different parts. Also you may try a search of the part numbers that are on the part on the internet. New may be available from overseas sources. May also find an import house that has some in stock.
I assume you pulled the plugs and Hall effect connector at the distributor, to spin the engine and pre-lube the cylinder walls before starting? Also assume you replaced everything, are sure the connector is well engaged, etc.... maybe some dielectric grease. Also assume you shot plenty of WD-40 on cabling, dist cap, coil tower, etc, as moisture may have built up in 6 months of storage...??? Don't get offended... just asking! I forget all kinds of crap myself.
