i have a 97 saabs turbo that ran fine. then yesterday i was driving with no problem and the car just shut off. i rolled to a stop and it will turn over but not start. seems like its not getting fuel but i thought there would be a sighn if it were the pump not just all of a suddon while i was driving. any ideas.

 

There are usually no signs of the pump failing. Can you hear the pump at all when you put the key in the ON position? (not crank, but just turn the ignition on) If you can't hear a humming noise from the back that first I'd check the fuel pump fuse and after that see if the pump itself is getting power. If it's getting power than you're in for replacement.

 

fuel,spark,air if you don't have these your not going anywhere, hit the fuel tank with a rubber hammer if it kicks back on its the pump
