Default Fuel system problem?

We bought a 1996 900 SE V6 Monday before last. It was low on gas so my wife filled the tank Monday night.

On a hot Friday afternoon (mid 90s F), my wife was in the middle of running errands and the car just died as she pulled into a parking space at a Burger King. The gas gauge read about 1/4 tank. She smelled fuel and noticed a puddle
under the gas tank. The car would crank at this point, but not catch anymore. By the time I got there, the puddle was just a wet mark on the asphalt and there was a single drip of liquid on a bottom corner of the fuel tank. I'm 50% sure
I smelled it and it was gasoline.

I got the car home and found the fuel pump fuse was blown. I suspected the car had split one of the plastic lines (or an o-ring or two) on the fuel pump and the pump blew a fuse b/c it had no more backpressure. I "improved" the factory
access panel under the rear seat.

No leaks!! The dust on the tank had a mark in it which *could* have been from a gas leak. I did smell a slight odor of fuel. I took it step by step-- expecting to cause a leak sooner or later but that brings me to now. I've driven the car
10mi each way through the city to work every day this week and I've run some errands (even in mid day heat) here and there. No sign of trouble.

The goal for buying this car was for my wife to drive with our two little kids, so I don't want to give her something that's likely to fail again. This time who knows-- maybe she won't have her phone on her!

Any ideas on what I should do next?? Thanks, -scott
