Default HELP !! I lost my clutch 95' 900 Turbo

1995 900 se Turbo 2.0L
I was driving along and slowly started to notice the clutch slipping, then basicly I lost 95% of the connectivity is my guess. You could smell the clutch as well.........Ok, have any of you done this job ? What am I getting into, I have done a clutch on a Toyota ( rear wheel drive ) and rebuilt a small block chevy.......but not sure about this job as far as access goes, special tool needed etc.......I need some guidance here as I was quoted over $1200 for the repair !![:@]

You will need either a cherry picker or an engine support beam: http://edge3.dealsdirect.net/images/...duct1_8388.jpg

it's a pretty straightforward job, but in the cold and without a lift expect at least 6 hours of work. You need to support the engine, than drop the subframe, and from there it's just like any clutch job... remove everything that's in the way, take the tranny off, remove old clutch, put in new one and reassemble.

Wow.....ok so I do need to drop the subframe........that sucks......I have only been under the car for oil changes and did not look at the transmission too cloosly......Hmm, I guess I could get away with a 4x4 and a length of chain to hold the engine up huh.....so its going to be a big job then..........

the subframe isn't at all that complicated. It is heavy though. Make sure that you don't drop that on yourself. Also it will be a good time to check out the engine mounts.

now would also be a good time to change, rear main seal, check slave cylinder, master cyl, shifter coupling release bearing , all good things to check right now
