Can anyone help.

I am having problems with my old saab 900 (not turbo) not starting. It turns over but doesnt appear to be getting fuel. It will fail to start for a week or two then will start and run for another month before stopping again. Mr AA man said it was the fuel pump. Can anyone confirm if this is common and if this sounds like a fuel pump problem.

RE: posible fuel pump problem
did you try hitting the fuel tank from underneath? If it starts immediately after than it's the pump...

You should also check the fuel line check valve.

RE: posible fuel pump problem
hey gordo i have a 89 9000 cd turbo and it did the same thing it turned out to be a small feeder pump attached to the housing for the larger pump that had went out and it was not letting gas through it i htought i had ran out of gas a few times and was left on the side of the road turned outi did have a quarter of a tank just wasnt enough to reach the main pump
i ended up dropping my tank and getting a racing fuel cell and an msd pump havent had a problem since
