Default SID 1 and SID 2

What's the difference between the SID numbers?

I replaced the SID 2 in my Saab, with an SID 1. The pixels were all out on the one that was in it. I hooked it up just to see if it would work, and it appears to be working just fine.

The features are different. I just never bothered to find out how exactly, but it has something to do with a trip computer.

I know they have some buttons different, the SID2 had more on it, but since the pixels didn't work I couldn't ever tell what was going on.

This other one works though, all the pixels light up and everything, and the speaker works on this one too.

I kept it. Thought about trying to do one of those fixes I read about. It's put up in the storage building for now.

Eh, the DIY fixes don't quite work for completely detached strips...I recommend a repair service..

I thought about sending the old one in too,and getting a replacement, for when the one in it now quits working. It doesn't seem to be a question of if it will ever go bad, but when

Yep, that's exactly right. I wish that ribbon cable was a better design, but it just seems like it's glued onto the boad or something...

I figured out some of the differences. The higher number ones have just a few extra features. Like a Trip Meter, that lets you know how many miles you have left to go before you arrive somewhere. They also show estimated time of arrival. I think the other two were alarm function, and a speed warning. So by switching to the lesser model SID I didn't lose out on much.
