Default Tape Residue

Before I got my car, someone has at one time recently broke the back glass behind the back door out of the vehicle (the little triangle piece of glass). The person who owned it at the time used duct tape to hold a piece of plastic in place while he was getting a replacement glass for it.

Now there is still tape residue on the car, and I'm not having much luck at all with getting it off there. I don't want to destroy my paint where the residue is left at.

Does anyone know any good ways to get the residue off without damaging the paint?

I found something that worked great

I did some reasearch/reading on the net, and found that a lot of people used WD-40 to take tape residue off. So I tried that and it worked wonderfully.

Just got an old shop rag that was clean, a can of WD-40, and some elbow grease and went to work. I applied the WD-40 directly to the tape residue, wiping up and drips with the rag so that it would get somewhat saturated with the oil as well. Let is set about a minute then started wiping, and suprisingly the residue started coming right off. I had to re-apply wd-40 a couple of times in the thick areas, but it eventually all came off.

You'd be surprised what else people use WD40 for...

From what I read, Peanut Butter is another miracle cure for lots of things as well.

Peanut butter also works in place of "Mguiars back to black" stuff... although I still use that stuff...

I like that Mother's Back to Black stuff pretty good. I have trouble getting it back off sometimes though, I really have to rub it to get the swirl marks out.

I think I'd feel kind of odd using Peanut Butter in place of it, but it'd give the car a scent that no one else in town would have.
