Default VERY BAD OIL LEAK

I just put in an alternator in my 1991 saab 900. Everything went smooth until I went to start it and heard a funny noise like liquid spraying. Found that it is oil from the part that the oil filter screws to. I am guessing that it is a seal that has been broken because oil sprays from the seam. Does anyone have any idea of the money and time I am looking at in repairing this? And, does anyone know the name of this part that I am talking about? Thanks all
